We hit the crossbar at Brighton yesterday with Drink Dry third. In truth, he looked a shade keen and the jockey reported that he hung left under pressure. We move on with plenty of action today. The exact schedule is up in the air, however, with a couple of meetings requiring inspections due to some serious rain in the last 24 hours.
Jockey Derby Switch Drama
Switching jockeys for big races is something we are all used to as racing fans. However, the removal of Callum Shepard from Ambiente Friendly in favour of Rab Havlin seems to my eye to be an odd choice. Shepard has done a great job on his two starts with the horse so far this season. I was at Lingfield when he returned to the parade ring to delighted connection after stamping his authority on the Derby betting with an impressive win. Whilst I understand the angle offered by the owner that they wanted to opt for someone with more experience, to my eye it feels a shade harsh on Callum.
Nap Of The Day
By the time the 8.40 at Southwell goes off I think the current going of Good could well be at least Soft all round given the up to 18mm of rain they are due to get before and during racing today. With that in mind, the 5/1 about Everyonesacritic could be quite big. Evan Williams’ horse has won on soft and is now only two pound above that winning mark. Unexposed at the trip, I think he can relish the easing ground and go well for regular rider Adam Wedge.
