NAP of the Day – Monday 13th May

NAP of the Day

Today, we have racing from Catterick, Roscommon and Windsor on the flat whilst the stunning Killarney and Hereford host jumps cards. Wolverhampton is your late all-weather meeting.

Derby and Oaks Trials Impact Ante Post Markets

Before we get to the NAP, a quick mention to the recent meetings and their impacts on the ante post betting for the Derby and the Oaks at Epsom. Chester, Lingfield, Longchamp and Leopardstown have all hosted races of significance in the last seven days. The three that most caught my eye was the finishing effort of Rubies Are Red at Lingfield in their Oaks trial. The effort from the front from the winner was impressive but Ryan Moore was making serious ground up just before the line. She, for me, was the biggest Oaks eyecatcher from the week for me. The Derby Trials had two potential horses to consider, Ambient Friendly at Lingfield won by four lengths and stamped his mark on a tilt at the big one. He was 100/1 before the race and is now 8/1. Elsewhere, I was keen to back Diego Velazquez for the Derby prior to his seasonal return which came Sunday in France. He ran a fine race and is a type that would relish going up in trip. My only concern is that connections may opt to race again in France rather than take to the Derby.

You can find our Oaks and Derby markets here.

Nap Of The Day

Plenty of racing on for the NAP today but it’s the last at Hereford that catches my eye. Golden Maverick is a horse I have a huge amount of time for and remained convinced the better surface today will suit him. A mark of 114 after his win in Scotland last month is fair but I expect him to give BetVictor brand ambassadors Gavin Sheehan and Jamie Snowden a winner in the lucky last.
