We are very much on weather watch from Friday as a cold snap arrives at a very unwanted time for racing fans. Action today, weather permitting comes from Newbury, Doncaster and Musselburgh over jumps whilst Dundalk on the all weather gives us some guaranteed racing.
Nap Of The Day
Gordon Elliott is in great form still and has had a huge number of winners in the last two months. One of those, Wodhooh heads to Newbury to take on her stable mate Doctor Nightingale and seven others.
In truth, from what Wodhooh has shown to date, she should be up to winning this contest in my view. A short price when just doing enough to get up at Down Royal last time out, she has shown a great attitude to hurdling since making the change.
When in the care of Sir Michael Stoute on the flat she ran in a very decent fillies maiden here at Newbury ending up fifth. Jumping is now her game and she should provide Elliott with another winner.
The Must Watch Race Of The Day
The long distance hurdle at 3.00 is another chance to see some great old favourites.
Paisley Park is not getting any younger but has managed to win at least one race of this nature in the last two seasons. Dashel Drasher is an admiral sort who does have a habit of finding one too good but always runs his race. The favourite will be Nicky Henderson’s Marie’s Rock who should ensure that the local trainer has a great chance of landing a winner on day one of a meeting that always sees him come away with a winner or two.
