In total, the MLB, or Major League Baseball League, features a total of 30 teams representing different states from around the United States, alongside one in Canada. Naturally, this means that every US state cannot have their own team, while some boast multiple.
It’s also worth mentioning that no team outside of America or Canada features in the league. However, games are regularly played at venues around the world as part of the MLB World Tour, making the biggest matches in baseball accessible to spectators around the world.

Arizona hosts one Major League Baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, who play in the National League West division.
California
- Number of Teams: 5
California boasts five Major League Baseball teams, making them the state with the most representation. It’s home to two American League teams, which are the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics. Both of these teams compete in the AL West.
There are also three National League MLB teams from California. These are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Diego Padres, and the San Francisco Giants. All three play in the NL West.
Colorado

Colorado is home to one Major League Baseball team. The Colorado Rockies play in the National League West division, with their home stadium being known as ‘Coors Field’.
District of Columbia

The District of Columbia hosts one Major League Baseball team, the Washington Nationals, who play in the National League East Division.
Florida

Florida boasts two Major League Baseball teams, the first of which is the Miami Marlins, who play in the National League East division. The Tampa Bay Rays are the other team from Florida, competing in the American League East Division.
Georgia

Following Florida’s MLB presence, we move to Georgia, which hosts the oldest Franchise in the history of the event. This is of course the Atlanta Braves, who play in the National League East Division.
The Braves have only been in Atlanta since 1966, however, the franchise itself was founded in 1871, surrounding the team in historical significance.
Illinois

Illinois has two Major League Baseball teams, with Chicago being home to both the Cubs and the White Sox. The Chicago Cubs, founded in 1876, play in the National League Central division, while the White Sox, who became a Major League team in 1901, compete in the American League Central.
Maryland

Maryland is home to one Major League Baseball team: The Baltimore Orioles. They play in the American League East division, with their stadium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, being found in the heart of Baltimore.
Massachusetts

Massachusetts hosts one Major League Baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, who are arguably the most well-known MLB club around the world. They play in the AL East Division with their home games being played inside Fenway Park in Boston.
Michigan

In Michigan, there is one Major League Baseball team, the infamous Detroit Tigers, who play in the American League Central division. Interestingly, the Tigers have won this division a total of four times over a period of dominance in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Minnesota

Minnesota is home to the Minnesota Twins, who play in the American League Central Division. The Twins have been a major part of Minnesota’s sporting landscape since the team was founded in 1901.
Missouri

Two different baseball teams can be found in Missouri: The Kansas City Royals and the St. Lous Cardinals. The Royals compete in the American League Central and are relative newcomers to the scene, being established in 1969.
As for the St. Louis Cardinals, they play in the National League Central and have been around since 1882, making them one of the most historic franchises in the MLB.
New York

New York boasts two Major League Baseball teams. First up is the New York Mets who play in the National League East, alongside another hugely popular baseball team, the New York Yankees, who compete in the American League East.
These teams contribute to New York’s rich baseball history, with the Yankees being the most successful team in the history of the MLB, in terms of the most World Series victories.
Ohio

In Ohio, there are two different baseball teams to cover. First is the Cleveland Guards of the American League Central Division, who were formerly known as the Cleveland Indians.
The other Ohio-based team is the Cincinnati Reds, who are part of the National League Central Division.
Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is home to two different Major League Baseball teams: The Philadelphia Phillies, who play in the National League East, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, who compete in the National League Central.
Texas

There are two Texas-based teams in the NHL, both of whom compete in the American League West division. These are the Houston Astros, who play their home games inside of Minute Maid Park, alongside the Texas Rangers, who call the Globe Life Field their home.
Toronto (Canada)

Toronto is the only Canadian city with an MLB team. Of course, this is the Toronto Blue Jays, who play in the American League East Division. The Blue Jays have huge support across Canada, with approximately 20% of the population stating that they actively follow the MLB.
Washington

There is one MLB team in Washington, known as the Seattle Mariners, who play in the American League West. Founded in 1977, they are a relatively new team when compared to some of the others on this list.
Wisconsin

Last but certainly not least is Wisconsin, an area that is home to one team in the MLB. This team is the Milwaukee Brewers, founded in 1969, who represent Wisconsin in the National League Central.
