UK Tennis Star Jacob Fearnley
It’s barely been 6 months since Andy Murray retired, yet a new Scottish star appears to be making waves in the form of Jacob Fearnley, as he pulled off a shock win in the 1st Round of the Australian Open against Nick Kyrgios on the 13th January 2025.
Jacob Fearnley Tennis Rankings
Despite being Britain’s number 3 rank, Fearnley was a huge underdog for the match and, albeit Kyrgios complained of stomach issues, Fearnley pulled a straight-set win to disparage the Aussie in front of his home crowd. But just who is Jacob Fearnley and how far might he get in the Australian Open this year?
Jacob Fearnley is a 23 year old Brit, who has been living in America for the past 5 years and attending TCU. Having ranked 645th just 2 years ago in 2023, he leaped to 99th in 2024 after a few successful Challenger tournaments and in a defeat to Djokovic at Wimbledon in July 24, where he still managed to take the third set. This year, Jacob Fearnley is rankings 86th, a career high for him, and likely to increase as well, should he progress further in the AU Open, with his next match being against Frenchman Cazaux on the 15th Jan.
Jacob Fearnley Odds
According to BetVictor, at the time of writing, the latest Jacob Fearnley odds show he is the favourite with a £10 bet returning £16.67 at odds of 10/15, while his opponent Cazaux is at 6/5 with the same £10 staked paying out £22. When it comes to the overall tournament, however, considering some of the behemoths of the court who he would have to upset to get to win the tournament, his odds of lifting the trophy stand at a distant 1000/1, where even £10 wagered would pay a staggering £10,010 back.
While the young Brit has a fair way to go to deliver the same spark that Murray did, being just 23 years old and with no sign of slowing his growth anytime soon, Fearnley is definitely one to watch and stay tuned to see how he fares in the Open this January at our dedicated Australian Open betting page, here at BetVictor.
