It’s the final group game for the ‘Three Lions’ who will take on fellow Group C side ‘Zmajčeki’ to see determine who goes through to the Final 16 and who goes home. While England will be looking to avenge their 2020 Euro Cup Final loss to Italy, in an attempt to bring home their first ‘International’ cup since their 1966 World Cup win and will likely be upbeat having not lost a single qualifying game, Slovenia will be looking to celebrate their reappearance at the Euros after a 24 year absence and beat their record of never making it past the Group stages, something that seems all the more possible after they defeated Portugal in a friendly earlier this year. Let’s have a look at what the bookmakers say about the latest England vs Slovenia odds ahead of the 8pm kick-off on the 25th June.
According to BetVictor, at the time of writing, the latest Euro 2024 betting odds have England way ahead as favourites with odds of just 1/4, meaning a £10 bet would return just £12.50 if correct. Their opponents however, are a staggering 10/1 currently, so the same £10 wager would pay a whopping £110 if they were to win at the end of the 90 minutes. For those who think that it might end up a draw, 17/4 will see a £10 punt kickback £52.50, not too shabby should the game finish as a stalemate. With England previously picked as one of the early tournament favourites and sitting 4th in the FIFA world standings, Slovenia’s 57th place position should be enough to clear up why the odds are so one-sided, but perhaps a bet on the right scoreline would see a better scope of return.
With England’s head coach, Gareth Southgate, appointing captain Harry Kane, the country’s top goalscorer, to lead the charge alongside in-form Madrid player Jude Bellingham and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka, Slovenia’s coach, Matjaž Kek, will turn to his own captain, goalkeeper Jan Oblak, to drive his side forwards with the help of midfielder Josip Iličić and strikers Andraž Šporar and Benjamin Šeško. While Slovenia have gone undefeated in 2024, England should have a solid determination to match, or better, their previous Euros performance, and we predict they will do what it takes on the night to walk away with all three points by the time the final whistle goes.
