Having left the club at the end of his short-term contract, the next Tranmere manager odds are online as the League Two side seek a permanent replacement for Pete Wild.
The 41-year-old – alongside his assistant Adam Temple – successfully kept Rovers in England’s fourth tier but have both now moved on from Prenton Park. Despite keeping the Merseysiders in the EFL, the club decided a change was necessary in the hope of avoiding a relegation battle in 2026-27, sources told BetVictor News.
Tranmere only avoided the drop on the last day of the 2025-26 season, eventually finishing 21st. During his spell in Birkenhead, Wild oversaw just one win having replaced Andy Crosby in March. The former Oldham boss didn’t oversee a goal in his opening five games and struggled to win over the fans during his ten games in charge.
Next Tranmere Manager Odds: Ryan Lowe Favourite For Prenton Park Gig
Currently leading the market is Ryan Lowe, who was dismissed by Wigan in February 2026. Lowe is the 7/5 favourite to replace Pete Wild and he certainly boasts plenty of EFL experience. Lowe successfully led Bury and Plymouth to promotion and has previously been linked with Tranmere.
The 47-year-old – who is a Liverpudlian – may not have set pulses racing at Wigan but his admirable work at Preston has not been forgotten – which is something worth considering when it comes to League Two betting. Lowe is the market leader for a good reason and it’s thought his potential appointment would be well received by supporters.
Mat Sadler And Jimmy McNulty In The Running For Tranmere Role
Other names heading the market include Mat Sadler and Jimmy McNulty. The former was most recently with Walsall but his time at the Bescot Stadium came to a premature end in March 2026. The Saddlers were running away with the League Two title but a huge dip in form saw Sadler relieved of his duties.
He was also a long-shot in the next Leicester manager odds market but his price has since drifted. On the topic of prices, Sadler can be backed at 7/4 which provides a decent amount of value. As for McNulty, the Rochdale hero is 2/1 to be named the new Tranmere manager.
He successfully lead the Dale back into League Two having narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to rivals York City. Like Sadler, McNulty has a plethora of EFL experience as a player and is carving out a fine reputation for himself in the dugout.
