Jordan Pickford’s in my side again this week. He’s got to be one of Everton’s best ever keepers at this rate, so it was fitting that he saved a penalty in the first game at the new stadium! He’s been an amazing servant to the club.
What a game Timber had against Leeds, he scored two and got an assist all from right-back! That’s unbelievable and it was yet another indication if we needed any, at just how dominant this Arsenal side are at set pieces. I think he’s got to be the star man this week!
Lacroix had another great game for Palace at the weekend; he’s a classy operator in the heart of that defence. If Guehi does leave the club, this lad’s going to become even more important moving forward. I saw he bought a round of drinks for all the people in row 5 because he wears that number. Clearly he’s a good fella off the pitch, and I know where I’ll be sitting the next time I go to Selhurst!
van Dijk was just magnificent against Newcastle. Liverpool’s defence was just all over the place, except this lad. He dealt with absolutely everything that came his way, I don’t think he lost a header even against big Dan Burn! He’s still such a top player.
I was a big fan of Kerkez, but I’m liking what I’m seeing from his replacement, Truffert. He’s very attacking and to be honest, he already looks like he’s been in this Bournemouth side for years! This could be another brilliant piece of business from a club that does so much.
Another Bournemouth lad, Marcus Tavernier. Thankfully, this lad is one of the players in the side that goes under the radar, let’s keep it that way! He got the vital goal in the win over Wolves and you’re always getting real quality on that left peg of his.
That was a massive win for Burnley, and they were inspired by their skipper, Josh Cullen. A lovely finish before setting up Anthony for the second, you can’t do much more than that!
I thought Sarr was absolutely magnificent for Spurs against City. This boy’s energy levels were just unbelievable, I thought there was two of him at one point. He’s got nice composure on the ball too, and he’s developing into a very good midfielder.
It was great to see Jack Grealish look more like himself. He got a couple of assists and just seemed to have more of a smile on his face and played with more of the swagger we saw at Villa. Everton are doing some good business; they’ll be a good side to watch this season.
I was sad to see Outtara leave Bournemouth, but he’s a good signing for Brentford and fills a big need in their side. He’s got great pace and is a very good finisher, talk about a perfect debut. It was a big win for Brentford, I’m happy for Keith Andrews to get that win.
One goal, two assists, Joao Pedro delivered a bit of a masterclass against West Ham. It’s got to be said, I thought some of the defending from the home side was just shambolic at times and a real cause for concern. Nonetheless, I do like this lad and think he’ll be a great signing for Chelsea.
Manager– I think it has to be Thomas Frank, he’s made such an impressive start. I know they got a helping hand with the two goals, but I think Spurs were tactically just brilliant and City didn’t really know what do. He’s making a real impact, so early into his tenure.
