Aston Villa could go top with a win over Arsenal on Saturday. Brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp previews the Premier League action this weekend.
Crystal Palace 0-2 Liverpool
It’s been a tough spell for Palace, this feels like a massive game for their season. Roy’s under a bit of pressure but this side are missing a few big players.
Liverpool keep winning, and are probably going under the radar. They showed their fighting qualities last week against Fulham and got the job done away at Sheffield United. This side are in the title race.
I can’t see past Liverpool right now, 2-0
One to watch- It’s got to be Trent Alexander-Arnold. We’ve known about this lad’s quality for years but he’s been outstanding recently.
Wolves 2-0 Forest
That was a big win for Wolves over Burnley, that’s put a bit of distance between them and the bottom three. Gary’s doing a great job there, and they’ve had so many refereeing decisions go against them as well.
Things aren’t great at Forest. Four defeats in a row and that last one, the 5-0 hammering at Fulham, was a real shock. Steve Cooper has done such a great job at that club; he deserves some time to turn this around. I’m not sure he’ll get it though.
On current form, I’ve got to pick Wolves.
One to watch- Hwang has been Wolves’ best player this season, this boy has a real eye for goal.
Brighton 3-1 Burnley
It wasn’t a thriller but that was a good win for Brighton over Brentford, never an easy side to beat. What a moment that was for the young lad, Hinshelwood, he looks a talent.
For Burnley, they didn’t really threaten Wolves during the week. This side just concedes too many goals and don’t score enough, that won’t work at this level! I’m sure Vincent will be eyeing a few arrivals in January.
I can see a Burnley goal, Brighton never keep clean sheets, but I can see a home win.
One to watch- Pascal Gross has been a great servant to Brighton for years. He got a lovely goal during the week and remains such a key player for them.
Sheffield United 1-2 Brentford
Trust me, it’s never easy taking over a club during the season. More often than not you’re taking over a squad that are low on confidence, it’s not easy to come in and lift the place. That being said, I think Chris Wilder will improve things, starting with Liverpool and Brentford isn’t ideal though.
Brentford weren’t at their best against Brighton. The bigger concern would be that Mbuemo rolled his ankle during the game. I’m a big fan of this boy, he’s probably been their best player this season. Hopefully he won’t be out for long.
I’m going for an away win, 2-1.
One to watch- He obviously struggled at Everton but Maupay looks like he’s getting back to his best at Brentford.
Man United 2-1 Bournemouth
United got the win over Chelsea during the week but I’ll be honest, Chelsea really disappointed me. Nonetheless, United and Ten Hag needed that. The performance at St. James’ last week was shocking, you never know what to expect from United.
Bournemouth are on a good run of form, I’m happy for the new boss. I know Palace aren’t in a great state right now but winning at Selhurst is never easy. That’s now three wins out of four, that’s good going in this league.
I think United will win this, but not by a lot.
One to watch- It’s got to be Scott McTominay! His scoring touch for club and country has been brilliant this season. I think the lad was a striker when he was growing up, he’s a good finisher.
Aston Villa 1-0 Arsenal
What a game this should be, I can’t wait. Villa’s form is unbelievable and make no mistake, there was nothing lucky about that win over City. That was a brilliant performance, and it was rare to see a team take the game to City so much.
What a moment for Declan Rice and Arsenal against Luton. I saw some people say the performance was poor, but I think that’s not giving Luton enough credit. It’s not an easy side to play against. The situation with the keepers is the big concern at Arsenal, that’s definitely something to watch.
He might play it down but trust me, Emery would love to beat his old side. These Villa players must be feeling unbeatable at home and because of that, I’m going for a 1-0 win.
One to watch- There’s so many Villa players that I can pick here but after his winner in midweek, it’s got to be Bailey. This boy has so much pace and skill and could cause Arsenal so many problems.
Luton 1-3 Man City
I’ve got to say, I was gutted for Luton against Arsenal. The effort they put into that game was superb, but it’s a performance to build on moving forward. No side will find it easy to go there and win.
It’s been a strange couple of weeks for City, very unlike them. That Spurs game was a match they should have won nine times out of ten and against Villa, they didn’t really threaten them. I know Pep will figure this out but right now they really miss Gundogan and Mahrez.
I’m still picking City here though, 3-1.
One to watch-Haaland didn’t do much against Spurs or Villa. I’d expect him to be back amongst the goals here.
Fulham 1-1 West Ham
That Fulham win against Forest came out of nowhere. They’ve been such low scorers all season and they then go and score five! Silva is a good coach, I always fancied him to get this team firing again.
West Ham have been a bit too inconsistent for my liking but it’s never easy to manage a squad when you’ve got European games on Thursday nights.
I don’t see much at all between these two. Aside from that crazy game at Anfield, Fulham have looked solid in the last few weeks. 1-1.
One to watch- It’s taken him a while to get going but it was nice to see Jimenez get a couple during the week. Hopefully the lad can kick on now.
Everton 2-1 Chelsea
Sean Dyche is doing another great job at Everton. When you look at the table, without the deduction this side would be comfortably in mid-table. What a result that was against Newcastle.
I thought Chelsea were really poor at Old Trafford, Poch must have been alarmed by that. They really missed Gallagher’s energy and desire in midfield, and they just looked off it all game. I don’t fancy this side on the road.
Every team that visits Goodison will find it difficult, let alone an inconsistent Chelsea. I’ve got to pick Everton here.
One to watch- Dyche obviously knows the lad well and he’s really getting the most out of Dwight McNeill.
Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle
Not sure what to expect here. The injuries keep mounting up for both sides. Spurs are on a really bad run of form at the minute, they need a win. Son came off during the week as well, Ange will be desperate he’s not out for long.
I don’t know what happened to Newcastle at Goodison, that’s very unlike them to just collapse like that. I’m not one to make excuses, and I know Eddie won’t either, but all these big games of late with such a small squad can’t have helped.
I don’t think we’ll see much at all between these two. I’ll say 1-1.
One to watch- He didn’t have the best of nights back at Goodison, but Anthony Gordon has been superb this season.
