Burnley 0-1 Chelsea
An interesting clash to kick things off. Burnley have been pretty decent at home, solid, hard to beat, but I don’t know if they have enough about them to really hurt these top sides.
It’s a big week for Chelsea, with Barcelona to come on the Tuesday, what a night that will be. They’ve gone under the radar but are only six points behind the leaders and are capable of going on a good run.
I’m picking Chelsea, just.
One to watch – Garnacho is beginning to really find his feet at Chelsea.
Bournemouth 2-0 West Ham
This is an important one for Bournemouth. They got thrashed last time out at Villa and just didn’t really look like themselves. They’ve been good at home though, so I do expect a good response.
Two wins in a row have really helped to lift the doom and gloom at West Ham. They needed that, they’ve got some tricky games coming up.
I’m going for Bournemouth, 2-0.
One to watch – Semenyo’s been one of the players of the season and will fancy his chances of another goal here.
Brighton 1-1 Brentford
Brighton are just so inconsistent! They weren’t great in that draw against Palace but knowing this team, they’ll go and score 3 or 4 here.
Keith Andrews continues to do a great job, that was an excellent win over Newcastle. I keep saying it, they just need to take some of that home form on the road.
I’m leaning towards the draw here.
One to watch – Igor Thiago is a real handful and was the difference against Newcastle.
Fulham 1-1 Sunderland
All doesn’t seem right to me at Fulham. They seem to be really struggling to score goals, and Marco Silva doesn’t seem happy, it’s a situation I’m keeping an eye on.
Sunderland keep going from strength to strength, I was so impressed by them in that draw against Arsenal. They seem to have so much spirit and belief in the side, that can take you a long way.
I’m going for a draw.
One to watch – Fulham need a spark in the final third and Kevin might be that man. This young lad came in for a bit of money in the summer, and we’ve seen glimpses of real quality and he looks like a classic Brazilian winger!
Liverpool 2-1 Forest
That international break probably came at the right time for Liverpool. Arne Slot will be hoping to use this break to reset and figure a few things out because they just don’t look right to me.
Forest got a vital win over Leeds last time, and Sean Dyche will be looking to use that to kickstart the season. When you look at the quality this team has, I can’t understand how they’re so low in the table!
I’m picking Liverpool, but I think this will be nervy and don’t see a lot between the two sides.
One to watch – Isak had a rest during this international break, and he’ll be hoping that’s him finally at full fitness and that he can show what a top striker he is.
Wolves 2-2 Palace
It’s all change at Wolves with Rob Edwards now at the helm. I know a lot of people were surprised that he left Middlesbrough, and I was too, but he loves this club and I’m sure he thinks he can turn things around.
This next month or so is going to be so hectic for Palace, and they don’t have the biggest of squads. Glasner is a top manager, and he’s obviously experienced in European football, but it won’t be easy to manage all those fixtures.
I think we’ll see a little bit of a new manager bounce and Wolves will get a point.
One to watch – If Wolves have any chance of staying up, they’ll need Strand Larsen to find his form from last season.
Newcastle 1-2 Man City
I can’t wait for this one, this should be great, it’s a bit of a clash of styles! Newcastle are having a strange season, they’re doing so well in Europe but struggling in the league. You don’t want to be playing catch up even this early in the season.
That win over Liverpool could be a big moment in this season. I just felt like City looked back to their best in that first half, I was impressed, and you could see the confidence back in the side.
I can Newcastle giving them a scare, but City and Haaland will have too much.
One to watch – Doku was absolutely brilliant against Liverpool, the best I’ve ever seen him play.
Leeds 0-1 Villa
Leeds need to find their shooting boots, and fast. Only Wolves have scored fewer than them and they just haven’t had much spark in the last few weeks. It’s been a difficult month for them.
Villa are beginning to really click and all of a sudden, that’s them up to sixth in the league. It just shows how quickly things can change in this league!
This won’t be a high-scoring classic, but I just think Villa are in a better place and will have too much.
One to watch – Tuchel is clearly a fan of him, and Morgan Rogers will look to keep his form up with so many top players competing for a spot in that England squad.
Arsenal 2-1 Spurs
A fascinating one. Arsenal drew at Sunderland but these things happen, and they were going to drop points at some point. I know they’ve got some tricky games coming up and they picked up an injury or two during the international break, but I’m not overly concerned. This squad should be big enough to make things work.
Spurs drew against United but I can’t say I was overly impressed. I think Spurs are superb defensively, they’ve got some top players back there, as good as anyone in the league. Going forward though, they just seem to lack some ideas and a bit of creativity.
Spurs suit these types of game, we saw them go to the Etihad and win earlier in the season. They’ll frustrate Arsenal, but I still have to lean towards Arsenal.
One to watch – Depending on Gyokeres’ fitness, this could be another game that Merino starts up front in. I’ve got to say, I think he does a fantastic job filling in here, it’s remarkable that he’s never played up front in his career before this.
Man Utd 2-1 Everton
United seem to be in a good place, certainly the best they’ve been under Amorim. That draw at Spurs was important just to keep the belief and to show that fighting spirit.
Everton got a big win over Fulham, and they needed that, it was a difficult few weeks for them. I’m sure Jack Grealish will be looking forward to this one, this is the sort of game that he was signed for.
I think United get the win, but I can see Everton scoring.
One to watch – Bruno Fernandes had a great game for Portugal the other day, scoring a hat-trick without Ronaldo in the side! Can he take that form into this game?
