England Vs Ghana Preview

Having replicated their most famous World Cup scoreline against Croatia in Seattle on June 17, the England vs Ghana odds strongly favour the Three Lions to make it two wins from two in Group L.

Despite a couple of hairy moments in the 4-2 win against the Checkered Ones, the second-half onslaught was exactly what supporters had been craving. Thomas Tuchel’s charges took the game to the Croats who had little answer to the stylish flair and continuous waves of attacks that battered their defence.

Which is something of which the Ghanians will be more than aware of in Boston on Tuesday night. The Africans also picked up a MD1 victory over Panama last time out. However, it took a last-gasp strike from Caleb Yirenki to clinch the points in a game that the Black Stars – statistically – were easily outplayed.

England Vs Ghana H2H Record

As far as the England vs Ghana H2H record goes, their has only been one previous encounter between the nations. Andy Carroll opened the scoring in the first-half for the Three Lions before Asamoah Gyan equalised in the 90th minute.

The 1-1 draw occurred in a friendly clash in March 2011 under the stewardship of Fabio Capello and was played out in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

England Vs Ghana Team News

Bukayo Saka isn’t likely to be risked in Boston. In fact, Thomas Tuchel explained over the weekend that the Arsenal star will almost certainly be ready for the Panama clash on June 27. That means Noni Madueke is likely to start once more. Elsewhere, their are slight concerns regarding Declan Rice and Marcus Rashford; but both players are in full training.

As for Ghana, Thomas Partey is expected to start having been denied entry to Canada on MD1. He is cleared to enter the USA so head coach Carlos Queiroz is set to reintroduce him into the starting XI. Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is primed to start ahead of Lawrence Ati Zigi. The latter was subbed off injured against the Panamanians last week.

England Vs Ghana Prediction

After the rampant and dominate performance against Croatia – in particular in the second-half – expect more of the same from Thomas Tuchel’s England side in Boston on Tuesday. Ghana weren’t at their best against lowly Panama and there is a real buzz about the Three Lions at the moment.

Prediction: England 4-0 Ghana (9/1)
