Just like that, the Group Stage of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup has come to an end, and as usual, it did not disappoint. The top two teams of each pool now advance to the quarter finals, which will take place on June 28th and 29th. The winners of each of the four games will then meet in the CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal games, which take place on July 2nd.
There weren’t any real surprises with the eight teams that advanced to this year’s Gold Cup quarterfinals. For those who have followed the Gold Cup’s history, only three teams have ever won the tournament: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. All three of these teams have advanced to the quarterfinals and look to be on a collision course to meet again in the semifinals or the Gold Cup finals.
CONCACAF Gold Cup Group Stage Recap
The Group Stage was dominated by the usual suspects, with Canada emerging from the round with the top goal differential of 8. Much of that can be attributed to a blowout win over Honduras by the score of 6-0. Luckily for Canadian fans, that was the only game played on Canadian soil at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, BC.

CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals Preview
The Gold Cup quarterfinals round will feature four games: two on June 28th at State Farm Stadium in Arizona and two on June 29th at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota. The games will each feature the first-place team of each pool playing the second-place team of another pool. Canada should be able to cruise by Guatemala, which is in the quarterfinals, mostly because it is in a weak Group. Guatemala barely got by Jamaica and Guadeloupe and was beaten 1-0 by Panama.
The Canadian contingent has been able to score at will on its competition, while only allowing one goal during the Group Stage. The inflated goal differential is due to its 6-0 drubbing of Honduras, but the Canadian offence is legitimate, and so too is its stingy defence. Expect Canada to easily advance to its first semifinals since 2021.
USA vs Costa Rica
The USA may be looking past Costa Rica, but they shouldn’t take this team for granted. The Costa Ricans pushed the defending champs from Mexico to a 0-0 tie in the Group Stage, and put up six goals in the other two games. Costa Rica actually tied Mexico in the Group Stage, but lost by one goal differential.
USA finished with the best record in the Group Stage, tied with Panama. The Americans allowed just one goal in their final Group Stage game against Haiti, and scored eight goals in three games. The United States are gunning for their twelfth consecutive Gold Cup semifinals berth.
