Brazil World Cup Preview

Chasing their first success since 2002, Brazil are one of the World Cup betting favourites. Under the guidance of wily old boss Carlo Ancelotti, the South Americans will once again bring their swagger and flair to North America.

Heading into his twilight years, record goalscorer Neymar was included in La Selecao’s finals squad. However, their are growing doubts over his fitness after the 34-year-old missed the first training session having sustained a calf injury while playing for Santos on May 17. It’s still touch-and-go whether he’ll feature this summer and his participation could be key to Brazil’s success.

Brazil World Cup Record

Brazil are the only side in the history of the World Cup to have participated in all 22 editions. They are also the most successful side with five victories recorded to date. Their first came in 1958 with the most recent coming in 2002.

Brazil World Cup Fixtures

As always, the World Cup odds favour Brazil to go deep into the tournament. Especially as the draw has been particularly kind to the Samba Stars. In their Group C opener, they will face Morocco which on paper, will be their toughest fixture.

They will then be tasked with facing minnows Haiti before taking on Scotland. The latter actually faced La Selecao in the opening fixture of France ’98 whereby the South Americans ran out 2-1 winners.

In CONMEBOL for this year’s tournament, Brazil weren’t at their usual best and secured qualification by finishing in fifth position with 28 points. Which was ten less than arch-rivals Argentina but only one behind runners-up Ecuador.

Brazil World Cup Odds

The World Cup winner odds on BetVictor list Brazil as the joint-fourth favourites at 9/1. Therefore, their chances of success are considered strong but they haven’t gone all the way since the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea.

  • World Cup winner odds: 9/1
  • World Cup runners-up odds: 4/1
  • World Cup semi-finalists odds : 7/4
  • World Cup quarter-finalists odds: 1/1

Brazil World Cup Prediction

There’s no denying that Brazil have one of the best squads heading to North America this summer. However, their sluggish performances in qualifying can’t be ignored lightly and there’s the potential to meet England in a blockbuster quarter-final tie.

The English are one of the World Cup betting favourites and if the two were to go toe-to-toe, the Three Lions should have enough about them to advance.

Brazil World Cup prediction: Quarter-final (1/1)
