When you play 25 games and manage 26 goals, you can expect to catch people’s attention, but when you’re 25, one of the hottest prospects in the world, and your contract expires at the end of the season, you can expect to capture everyone’s attention. Having signed a 2-year extension with PSG in 2022, that expires this summer, Kylian Mbappe is the player that everyone is talking about right now. From his blockbuster rejection of a Saudi offer last year that would have seen him earn up to $1bn from wages and image rights, to his unwillingness to comment on transfer speculations, it seems unlikely that anyone truly knows what’s going on Mbappe’s mind, but that won’t stop people from trying to guess. So rather than speculate on where he might end up next season, let’s take a look at the Kylian Mbappe next club odds and the latest rumoured offers from both PSG, Real Madrid and more.
According to BetVictor at the time of writing, the Mbappe next club odds are quite varied for now. With several Premier league teams, including Chelsea and Manchester City at 33/1*, Arsenal at 25/1* and Liverpool at 20/1*, sitting a the bottom of the list, it appears that the expectation for him to crossover the seas from France to the UK is unlikely. At joint odds of 16/1*, where a £10 bet would pay £170, are three very wide market opportunities, where Mbappe could join ‘Any German club’, ‘Any Italian club’ or ‘Any Saudi club’. While this encompasses a lot of teams, the chances of most clubs being able to match his salary expectations, outside of the Saudi league, are minimal, so it seems unlikely that these will materialise. Unsurprisingly, at the top of the odds markets, is Real Madrid at 8/1*, where a £10 wager would return £90. Having never hid his passion for Los Blancos, this feels like the most logical move for him, however their recent demand for him to sign a pre-contract seems to have backfired as he has refused to commit to anything as of this time.
So, with only a handful of teams genuinely able to afford him, will Real Madrid’s £30m purported yearly earnings be enough to woo him away from PSG’s ludicrously rumoured offer of over €100m per year and incredible ‘extra value’ propositions. While no formal bid has been received from Madrid, with the club unlikely to do anything unless Mbappe gives the greenlight that he wants to go there, PSG have been readying up a deal like never before. While nothing has been officially released, the proposed €100m a year deal would also include family add-ons to benefit his brother, Ethan Mbappe, who plays at the club, the other members of his family and even assisting his mother in setting up a player agency. But despite several news outlets expressing their admiration for the PSG proposal, Mbappe’s desire to join Real Madrid and his willingness to walk away from tens of millions of pounds in performance bonuses, let alone the Saudi deal last summer, might give a clue as to where his head might be. Unlike other footballers who have left to join clubs where vast riches are the new normal, Kylian is only 25 and has a long playing career ahead of him, so going somewhere where he can play at the top of his game seems far more likely for now.
So whilst rumours will continue to swirl and Mbappe seems set to stay silent, all that is left to do is wait and see. In the meanwhile, be sure to check out our other Football Transfer Betting Specials for other great names who are rumoured to be on the move soon.
