What a point that was for Burnley at Anfield, and they have Dubravka to thank for some of it. This lad was fantastic; he’s been a great bit of business. He made some big saves and he’s a really experienced player and obviously knows the league very well, that’s important for a newly promoted side.
Speaking of great signings, Mukiele’s been brilliant for Sunderland. He was dominant again at home to Palace and you very rarely see anyone get the better of him. He’s so strong and such a presence in what’s a very organised defence.
I’ve always liked James Tarkowski, you know exactly what you’re getting from this lad. He might not be the quickest or flashiest defender in the world, but his defensive skills in and around the box are brilliant, he barely loses a header or duel.
Martinez was brilliant for United, and you can see what a big miss he was when he was injured. He’s clearly a big leader and big personality in that dressing room and he seems to thrive in these big games. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he should be arguing with club legends on social media but on the pitch, he’s been superb!
Gudmonsson had a strong game for Leeds at left wing-back. He’s summed up Leeds’ season in that he came in and took a little while to settle, but he looks at home now in this side and they keep getting good results.
Summerville’s taken quite a while to really show his Leeds form at West Ham, but he was excellent against Spurs and a real threat on the left. I know there was a little bit of fortune about his goal, but he was positive and tried to make things happen. Hopefully he can build on this.
Ampadu’s an ever-present for Leeds in the heart of midfield, and a real leader for the side. He’s a very dependable player and he’s developing into a very good player. It seems like he’s been around for years!
I don’t see many midfielders playing better than Elliot Anderson on a weekly basis, he’s having an amazing season. He just never looks flustered; he’s always so composed on the ball and very rarely gives it away. Against Arsenal, he was a calming presence and was always there to intercept and win the ball back.
I know it sounds crazy because he only played a few minutes at the end, but I’ve got to mention Callum Wilson! To come on and score the winner, and such a vital one, what a super-sub. There’s been lots of rumours surrounding his future, but it seems like he’ll stay at West Ham and I’m not sure West Ham are in a position to lose a guy of this experience.
Mbeumo looks like he’s played at United for years, that was a great moment for him. It was looking like Donnarumma was unbeatable, but he slotted that goal away nicely, you always trust him on that left peg in front of goal. I like this lad a lot, he’s got real quality in the final third. He’s my star man this week.
It was a bit of a smash and grab by Everton, and it’s good to see Barry get another goal. This boy had such a difficult start to his Everton career, and it felt like the goal was never going to come for him. He’s stuck at it though and you can see the difference in him now. It’s amazing what a goal can do for someone’s confidence!
Manager of the Week – It has to be Michael Carrick! I’ve always liked Michael since I coached him as a young lad and I’m happy he’s got this chance to show what he can do. I thought United were excellent at times and played with real energy and desire. There’s a long way to go but if he keeps winning games you never know, he might get this job full-time!
