Brand ambassador Harry Redknapp gives his predictions for week 3 of the Premier League, with Liverpool – Arsenal the feature game.
Chelsea 2-1 Fulham
We should see a good game here, a West London derby! Fulham got the win here last season, so Chelsea will be bang up for this. I thought Chelsea were excellent last week against West Ham, but West Ham were all over the place. They drew against Palace in their opener though, so I’m not quite sure what Chelsea we’ll see.
Fulham may not have signed anyone, but this is a good side, and we saw that against United. If anything, I’m sure they were disappointed not to have claimed all three points.
I don’t think there will be much in this, Fulham don’t concede too many. I’m going for 2-1 Chelsea.
One to watch – Joao Pedro has settled in so well at Cheslea, he’s made that position his own.
Man Utd 1-0 Burnley
Wow, what a massive game this is. I couldn’t believe what I was watching the other night at Grismby, United were pathetic. I actually feel sorry for Amorim, it looked like some of those lads just downed tools, I worry for him if they lose this one as well.
That was a big win for Burnley last week. Even at this early stage, it’s important for a newly promoted side to get off the board with a win.
This could be a nervy day at Old Trafford but I do think United will narrowly get the win.
One to watch- Bruno Fernandes had a strange game at Fulham last week. Rightly or sometimes wrongly, he’s always one to watch!
Sunderland 1-1 Brentford
A tough one to predict. Sunderland cruised to the win at home to West Ham but weren’t great at Burnley.
Keith Andrews has had a good week, beating Villa in the league and then Bournemouth in the cup. That should give the place a real lift, and they’ll fancy going up north and getting the win.
I’m leaning towards a draw.
One to watch- Outtara was the star of the show for Brentford last week, he could cause all sorts of problems here.
Spurs 2-1 Bournemouth
It couldn’t have gone much better for Thomas Frank at Spurs. I thought Spurs were absolutely fantastic last week, a tactical masterclass from them. If they can keep this form up they could be in for a very good season.
I think Bournemouth will be fine this season, but it might take a bit of time to adjust to all the ins and outs this summer. I trust the gaffer to have this side comfortably away from the bottom third of the table.
I think Bournemouth can cause problems with the likes of Semenyo on the break, but I’m going for Spurs.
One to watch- I can’t believe I’m picking a centre-half here, but what a top player Micky van de Ven is. Keeping fit is the priority for this team, you saw the impact of that last season.
Wolves 1-2 Everton
This feels like an important one for Wolves. They’ve not had the easiest start to the season, but they’ve struggled, and a lot of people are worried about them. A lot could depend on what happens with Strand Larsen up top, they can’t afford to sell him.
All of a sudden, there’s some real optimism around Everton this season and that’s great to see. They seem to have already settled into their new home and they’re making some good signings.
I think Everton narrowly win this.
One to watch- It’s got to be Jack Grealish. He played well last week and hopefully, we see more of the same.
Leeds 1-0 Newcastle
It’s been a poor week for Leeds. They got battered at Arsenal and then that shocking defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the cup. I think they can bounce back at Elland Road though.
I know Eddie was so proud of his side the other night, I don’t know how they lost that game in the end. The bigger concern, would be that they picked up more injuries and suspensions. That was the last thing they needed!
I think Leeds can take advantage of a weakened Newcastle side here. 1-0.
One to watch- Calvert-Lewin didn’t exactly have a great debut the other night did he? I worry where the goals will come from in this team, and they’ll be hoping he can be the man.
Brighton 1-2 Man City
Brighton were quite wasteful against Everton, they definitely should have got something from that game. That would be a worry for me, they sold Joao Pedro to Chelsea and I question where the goals will come from, we’ve seen what a good player that lad is.
I was very surprised by City last week. Don’t get me wrong they did gift Spurs a goal and they did have chances, but they weren’t great. Was that an off day or a sign that they aren’t back to their best as some as thought after that emphatic win over Wolves?
I’m picking City, but I don’t see much in this game.
One to watch- You never quite know what team Pep is going to pick. One thing’s for certain; Erling Haaland will be the main man up top.
Forest 2-0 West Ham
This will be an interesting one. I have no idea what’s going on at Forest but I hope they’ve resolved whatever the issue was. I think they’ve made some good signings and I can see them having another good season.
Talk about a big game for West Ham, it’s been a disastrous start for them. I saw Bowen arguing with a few of the fans, that’s the last thing they need. I mean, he’s the last player that should be getting any stick!
2-0 Forest.
One to watch- Chris Wood could net a goal or two here.
Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal
Wow, what a game this should be! Liverpool were hardly great at Newcastle but what a win that was and what a morale boost that should be. Going forward, they look as good as anyone, but I do worry about them at the back, they’ve looked very shaky.
Arsenal were brilliant last week against Leeds last week and what a moment that was for young Dowman. I’ve got to say, what a talent the lad looks, he could be very, very special.
I think we’ll see plenty of action, plenty of goals in this one, I can’t wait. I’m going for a draw, 2-2!
One to watch- This is a big game for Gyokeres. How will Arsenal’s new striker cope against van Dijk?
Villa 1-1 Palace
I’m beginning to get a little bit worried about Villa, it’s not been a great start and they seem to have a few issues behind the scenes. Emery’s obviously a top manager but they need reinforcements.
Palace are beginning to do business themselves. I think it’s going to be a very busy deadline day for them and for several teams in the league, I don’t miss that!
I really don’t see much between these two sides at the minute. Palace are on a great unbeaten run and I can see them getting at least a point.
One to watch – Morgan Rogers hasn’t quite got going this season and Villa need this lad at his absolute best. This would be a good place to start.
