Texas Rangers vs Chicago White Sox Predictions July 22

rangers vs white sox picks

The Texas Rangers (47-52) welcome the Chicago White Sox (27-74) to the Globe Life Field on Monday for what is game one of a four-game set between the two teams. The two teams have endured different results of late, making for an interesting proposition when the action gets underway at 8.05 p.m. ET.

It’s the Rangers who come into game one as the favourites according to the moneyline at -170, with the White Sox +143 underdogs. Michael Lorenzen (5-5) is set to start for the Rangers, and it will be Erick Fedde (703) that you can expect to see open for the White Sox.

Rangers will begin on the back of a recent victory. They defeated the Orioles yesterday 3-2, with Andrew Heaney the winning pitcher on the day. Heaney threw five innings in total and didn’t give up a single earned run on two hits, and managed to strike out four. Jonah Heim was on hand to lead offensively, going one for three with a homer and three RBI.

It was a different story for the White Sox, who fell at the hands of Kansas City Royals 4-1. Unfortunately for John Brebbia, he was the losing pitcher on the day, going 2/3 of an inning giving up three earned runs from five hits. Tommy Pham led things on the offensive front for the White Sox. He went two for four with an RBI.

Betting Insights

  • There have been fifty-three times so far that the Rangers have been favourites this season, and they’ve managed to win thirty of those games, or 56.6%.
  • On the nine occasions they’ve been -170 or more with sportsbooks this season, the Rangers have a 4-5 record.
  • According to the moneyline at sportsbooks, the implied likelihood of a Rangers win in game one against the White Sox is 63%.
  • The White Sox have been the underdogs for ninety-four contests this season and have triumphed twenty-three times, which is 24.5%.
  • There have been sixty-four games when the White Sox have been installed at +143 or worse on the moneyline. They’ve won twelve of those games.
  • The moneyline doesn’t hold out much hope for the White Sox in this one, with an implied probability of a win being 41.2%.

The Prediction

We’ll keep it short and sweet as far as the prediction of which team will come out on top in game one of this four-game set between the Rangers and the White Sox. We believe it will be the Rangers, but that it could end up being a closer run thing than some others may be predicting, even though the moneyline is suggesting what it is suggesting.

If we had to be pushed on a scoreline we’ll go with it ending up looking something like 5-4 in favour of the Rangers. And with that, we suggest the overs market and over 8 runs specifically could be a goer in this one. After the first game, there will be more to work off, which is a plus.
