Steve Cooper The Early Favourite To Replace Craig Bellamy As Wales Boss

With question marks surrounding Craig Bellamy’s long-term future at the Principality Stadium, BetVictor has published the next Wales manager odds market.

Bellamy looked like he would return to Burnley with the EFL Championship club still looking for a replacement for Scott Parker. The former West Ham and Tottenham midfielder left Turf Moor in April just before Premier League relegation was confirmed.

However, Bellamy’s move collapsed for reasons that have yet been made public knowledge. Although many are expecting the former Man City and Liverpool star to lead the Dragons on their quest for Euro 2028 qualification, the FAW are expected to keep their options open with Bellamy’s position in the dugout still unclear.

And here at BetVictor News, we take a look at the most likely contenders and market leaders who could potentially take the role. As it stands, there is one clear favourite in the next Wales manager odds market.

Next Wales Manager Odds: Steve Cooper Favoured For Dragons Role

As it stands, Steve Cooper is the 2/1 favourite in the next Wales manager odds market. Cooper is currently out of work having been dismissed by Swedish outfit Brondby in May. The former Nottingham Forest boss also led Swansea between 2019 until 2021 and therefore, knows just what football means to Wales supporters.

Not only that, Cooper previously manager England at U16 and U17 level so he has a thorough understanding of international football; albeit at youth level. If the role was offered, Cooper would surely consider replacing Craig Bellamy if it comes to it.

100/1

Rob Edwards And Oisan Roberts Also In The Running For The Wales Job

Having been given the boot by Wolves, Rob Edwards is 3/1 to be named the new Wales boss. The former Dragons international would surely jump at the chance to manage his country. Not only that, Edwards certainly has plenty of experience with a number of clubs in England and wouldn’t likely need to convince the FAW about his credentials.

Just behind Edwards in the market is Oisan Roberts. Another Welshman in the running, Roberts has a strong understanding of Welsh football and has previously worked under the Likes of Ryan Giggs and Chris Coleman (who is also in contention). Roberts is currently employed as Como’s Head of Development and can be backed at 4/1.

Elsewhere, the likes of Eric Ramsay, Nathan Jones, Brian Barry Murphy and Karl Robinson are also in the running. For those looking for a long-shot, former gaffer Mark Hughes can be backed at 25/1.
