Next Oxford Manager Odds: Aaron Ramsey Favourite For Kassam Stadium Gig

After Matt Bloomfield was relieved of his duties on June 20, the next Oxford manager odds market is live on-site here at BetVictor.

Bloomfield was installed in January of this year and was tasked with keeping the U’s in the EFL Championship. However, the 42-year-old was unable to save the Yellows which meant Bloomfield suffered back-to-back relegations to League One.

He endured the same fate with Luton in 2024-25 and will now be mulling over his next move. But now that the former Colchester midfielder has been handed his P45, the next Oxford manager odds market has one clear favourite for the role. BetVictor News takes a closer look at the most likely contenders.

Next Oxford Manager Odds: Aaron Ramsey Leads The Market

As of June 22, Aaron Ramsey is the 4/6 favourite to be named as the next Oxford manager. The former Wales international officially hung up his boots in April and is seemingly keen to transition into management.

His only previous role in the dugout came with boyhood club Cardiff. Ramsey replaced Omer Riza for the final three games of the 2024-25 campaign but was unable to preserve the Bluebirds EFL Championship status.

Although U’s supporters may be skeptical of Ramsey’s lack of managerial progress, his glittering playing career means he has a deep and thorough understanding of the game. Therefore, it could be a risk very much worth taking. After all, Ramsey needs to start somewhere.

Karl Robinson And Alan Sheehan In The Running For The Oxford Job

For those looking beyond Aaron Ramsey for the Oxford gig, Karl Robinson and Alan Sheehan offer decent potential. The former has an abundance of EFL experience with the likes of MK Dons, Charlton and most recently, Salford. But most notably, he previously managed the U’s between March 2018 until February 2023.

As for Sheehan, he has an extensive playing career in England’s lower leagues. In the dugout, he endured mixed fortunes in his only role so far at Swansea. The Irishman initially came to the Swans as an assistant but was installed as a caretaker manager when Luke Williams was fired in February 2025. Sheehan was given the role full-time in April but was given the boot in November.

Elsewhere, the likes of John Terry, Dave Challinor, Richie Wellens, Darren Ferguson, Steve Bruce and Mat Sadler are all in the mix.
