Ronald Koeman Out, Arne Slot In? Will The Former Liverpool Boss Take The Vacant Netherlands Managerial Position?

After succumbing to a penalty shootout defeat to Morocco in the Round of 32, BetVictor has released the next Netherlands manager odds market after Ronald Koeman stepped down from the role.

Koeman came under fire after changing tactics against the 2026 AFCON champions which failed to pay dividends. The North Africans dominated the Dutch in various key match stat areas including shots, shots on target, passes and more alarmingly, possession.

Although the former Barcelona star claimed he was right to do so, he made the decision to resign shortly after the 2026 World Cup exit. Naturally, a number of high-profile names are already linked with the job and here at BetVictor News, we take a look at the most likely contenders and market favourites.

Next Netherlands Manager Odds: Arne Slot The Early Favourite

Having parted ways with Liverpool as recently as May, Arne Slot is the 1/1 favourite in the next Netherlands manager odds market. Despite his poor second season at Anfield, Slot offers a winners pedigree having landed the Premier League title in his maiden campaign on Merseyside as well as the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup during his time with Feyenoord.

Various reports suggest Slot is keen to return to the dugout as soon as possible. And with the potential to manage the national team, it’s an opportunity that likely won’t present itself too often. Therefore, the smart money certainly lies with Slot as it’s understood the Royal Dutch FA are also keen to get him on board.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Michael Reiziger And Robin Van Persie All In Contention For The Netherlands Job

A trio of former Holland internationals are all worth considering in the next Netherlands manager odds market. Ruud van Nistelrooy has a mixed CV at club level but is the current assistant of the national side. He also had a stint in the same role under Guus Hiddink before the 2014 World Cup.

As for Michael Reiziger, he is the current head coach of the U21 side. He has held the position since 2023 and can boast an inside knowledge of the international setup. Something of which the Royal Dutch FA will surely favour.

Meanwhile, Robin van Persie is another name who offers potential. He is Holland’s second-highest goalscorer and led Feyenoord to a runner-up spot in the 2025-26 season. Despite that, he and De club aan de Maas went their separate ways so the former Arsenal and Man United star is ready and available.
