NCAA Basketball Picks, Predictions and Preview – 1st March 2024

ncaab picks

The Loyola Ramblers (20-8) and the Dayton Flyers (22-5) meet in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the first time this season. These two teams have been outstanding, and their positions on the log prove this. The Flyers currently sit at the 2nd position and are followed closely by the Ramblers at 3rd. Hence, we should expect a tight encounter between these incredible NCAA basketball teams.

The Loyola Ramblers

The Ramblers are 13-2 at home and are looking to extend their home win run to 6 when they host the Flyers on Friday. The game against the Richmond Spiders was the last they lost at the Gentile Arena. It ended in a narrow scoreline of 56-58, as the road team fought tooth and nail to secure a win in the second half after tying in the first. The Spiders were a worthy opponent, a Chris Mooney-led team currently the table toppers in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Now, Anthony Grant and his boys, who are 5-4 on the road, will try to test the Ramblers and cut short their dreams of a 6th straight home win. In the Ramblers’ ( 12-3 A-10) previous home game, they thrashed the George Mason Patriots 80-59, winning the first and second half convincingly. Braden Norris was a thorn in the flesh for the Patriots, leading his team to the win as he recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and eight assists. Like in this win, Norris will need teammates Philip Alston, Desmond Watson, and Miles Rubin to rise to the occasion against the Flyers.

The Dayton Flyers

After suffering two consecutive road losses, the Flyers must step up to achieve one of their quests for the season. The Atlantic 10 Conference has been scheduled to end on March 8, and being the regular season champion will be one thing they look forward to. Before then, they need to cross the Ramblers hurdle.

The George Mason Patriots were the recent beneficiary of the Flyers shabby road performance, losing narrowly by a 71-67 scoreline. However, their last game against the Davidson Wildcats meant their 100% home record remained intact. They won 80-66, needing just the first half to put the game to bed. Their second-half performance was questionable as they fell to a 40-45 defeat, but it wasn’t enough for the Wildcats to recover after a 40-21 first-half scoreline. It might be the time that the Flyers (12-3 A-10) replicate their home court performance at the Gentile Arena, as anything short of that could be devastating.

Head-to-Head Loyola vs Dayton

In the last two games between these sides, the Dayton Flyers won both. The previous was a 65-49 road win for the Flyers at the Gentile Arena. Anthony Grant and his boys gave the Ramblers no chance, winning convincingly in the first and second halves. Despite Philip Alston’s fantastic display in the game, DaRon Holmes II and Toumani Camara (now at the Portland Trail Blazers) proved superior, scoring 20 and 17 points, respectively.

Making predictions on this game is one that bettors are looking forward to. Moreover, bookies will offer many betting options for wagering on this event.

Utah State Aggies vs Air Force Falcons

The Utah State Aggies (23-5) will welcome the Air Force Falcons (9-18) at the Smith Spectrum on Friday, March 1. A victory on the night will draw the Aggies closer to being crowned the Mountain West Conference Champions, a title they last won in 2019. In his first season, Danny Sprinkle has been exceptional, as the Aggies look set to participate in another NCAA March Madness.

With a 12-1 home record so far, the Falcons don’t look like the team to hand the Aggies their second loss at the Smith Spectrum. Before this encounter, the Aggies faced the San Diego State Aztecs on home court, winning 68-63. The Aztecs are one of the top teams in the West Conference, and considering their performances this season, it’s only logical that the Aggies struggled to win against them. Darius Brown II and Great Osobor turned up for the game like they’ve been doing all season.

On the other hand, the Air Force Falcons had a run of 7 consecutive losses before a narrow 78-77 win against the New Mexico Lobos on the road. They returned to their usual lackluster performance, just like they’ve had all season in their previous match against the Boise State Broncos, losing 48-79 at home. They would need a miracle to beat the best team in their conference when they face the Aggies this Friday.

Head-to-Head Utah State vs Air Force

Unsurprisingly, the Utah State Aggies have won all 5 of the last encounters between them. The last one was an 88-60 road win, shutting the Falcons out of the game in the first and second half. Great Osobor did the damage, scoring 32 points, nine rebounds, and four assists on the night. Our analysis and predictions don’t guarantee a 100% victory for your bets.
