NAP of the Day – Tuesday 20th August

Action today comes from Kempton and Wolverhampton on all weather whilst Nottingham, Brighton and Roscommon host flat cards. The big talking point yesterday came at Windsor where No Retreat was beat on the line under James Doyle. It appeared on first view he had failed to ride the horse out to the line, later talking to Sky Sports Racing he explained in good detail what he felt had happened “He’d only ran once before and quickened up smartly to go and win his race. He did lug into Hollie’s horse, which is when I put my stick down, and then after that he gets a wobble on and spots the winning line. He goes right to try and avoid stepping on it, and then started to go left hand down and I was mindful of the turn.” Surprisingly to many no action was taken and Doyle avoided a ban with the stewards satisfied with his explanation of the events which unfolded.

Daily NAP

I started to look at the Brighton card but nothing jumped out. I do want to wish BetVictor brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp the best of luck with his pair of runners at the Sussex track. The NAP will come from Roscommon in Ireland, which has seen a huge amount of rain hit the track. The going is now heavy soft in places and required an inspection this morning for racing to go ahead. This will be music to the ears of connections who run Sigh No More here who runs in the 6.20 which is an auction series race. She was a winner on heavy ground at Galway last time out, on that occasion she looked like a horse who needed further in time but she can be as effective in the conditions remaining at seven furlongs today.
