Welcome back to Harry Redknapp’s Team of the Week for matchday 30. The Premier League is often viewed as the pinnacle of football betting and I’ve identified my 11 picks for what was another pivotal round of games in England’s elite.
BetVictor’s Premier League betting markets are live on-site ahead of the next round of fixtures which are set to take place between March 20-22 – which includes the hugely anticipated Tyne-Wear derby between Newcastle and Sunderland. Until then, let’s take a look at who shined on matchday 30.
Harry Redknapp’s Team Of The Week: Manchester United, Newcastle And West Ham Stars All Included
I’m picking Arsenal’s David Raya in goal. This lad has such a habit of pulling of some unbelievable saves, he did it yet again against Everton. To be fair, the best save might have been Riccardo Calafiori, what a block that was!
Newcastle’s Malick Thiaw had a frustrating night against Barcelona but boy did he bounce back against Chelsea. This guy’s been such a great signing for the Magpies and is a mainstay in the side now.
Konstantinos Mavropanos was putting his head on every ball against Manchester City, you love to see that from your centre-half. Obviously, his goal was a huge moment, but he was so brave and showed so much fight and character all game. Just what you need in a relegation scrap from West Ham’s perspective.
Jean-Clair Todibo was excellent alongside Mavropanos and is getting in my team here. He’s someone that arrived with a huge reputation and I don’t think we’ve quite seen the best of him in a West Ham shirt. He was brilliant against Manchester City though and you saw what a top player he is.
I don’t see many better left-backs in world football than Newcastle’s Lewis Hall right now, what a week he’s had. He kept Lamine Yamal very quiet and then cruised it back at Stamford Bridge. Right now, it looks like that left-back spot for England will be his to lose.
Ethan Ampadu led his Leeds side brilliantly against Crystal Palace. I know it was only a point but considering the circumstances and considering they were a man down, Daniel Farke’s side will take that. I’ve been impressed by this lad all season.
Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is my star man this week, another brilliant performance from United’s main man. I don’t think people have given him enough credit this season, he’s got to be in the running for Player of the Season at this rate. He keeps chasing down that assist record and some of his passing is just fantastic.
Casemiro’s season has been such a surprise to me, every credit to the lad. So many people had so much to say about him, but he’s answered so many critics, and he looks as good as ever. He keeps chipping in with some big goals as well. It would have been pretty unthinkable a year ago to say that Manchester United will miss him when he leaves, but they will!
Anthony Gordon’s in the side, he was such a threat for Newcastle against Chelsea. That was a great win for the club and Gordon’s record against the top six sides is absolutely brilliant, he seems to come alive in these big clashes. The less said about that pre-match huddle though from the Blues the better. I’ve seen a lot of football in my time, but I’ve never seen anything like that!
Brighton’s Yankubu Minteh is in the side for the winner at the Stadium of Light, but what a strange, strange goal that was! Still, I’ve always thought this lad was capable of more and he can be such a threat with that searing pace of his.
When you’re in a relegation battle, you need characters like Richarlison. This is a lad that never gives up and okay he’ll miss some chances, but he’s a great character. Good for him that goal yesterday and that might just spark some life into Tottenham.
Manager – It could have been Nuno Espirito Santo but I think it has to be Michael Carrick. Manchester United now look very likely to finish in the top four and I don’t think many could have predicted this when Ruben Amorim left. I keep hearing that Carrick won’t or can’t get the job full time, why not? What more does he have to do!
