Bournemouth 2-1 Fulham
Bournemouth are still unbeaten since the first game of the season, that was a decent point for them away at Leeds. They’ve been very good at home, and I fancy them in this big Friday night clash.
Fulham weren’t great at Villa Park last week, this will be a tough test for them here. They haven’t been at their best on the road so far this season.
There’s not much between these two sides, but I just think Bournemouth will have too much attacking threat and quality.
One to watch: I feel bad picking Semenyo but the lad just keeps scoring! How can I not say him?
Leeds 1-1 Spurs
An interesting one here. Leeds aren’t the most prolific side but they’re hard to beat, particularly at home. Those fans will be really up for this one too, I think they’ll fancy getting something from this game.
I’ll be honest, I can’t really make my mind up about Spurs this season. They did well to get a point in the end against Wolves, but the performance wasn’t great, and they backed it up with a pretty poor showing in Norway the other night. Don’t get me wrong, they at least showed some good fighting spirit in the game.
I’m going for another Spurs draw, 1-1.
One to watch: I think Calvert-Lewin could cause some problems here. He’s not had the best of times over the last season or so but a goal in a big game like this should kickstart his Leeds career.
Man United 1-1 Sunderland
Wow, what a fascinating game. Man United just continue to underwhelm. I know a couple of decisions probably went against them against Brentford but they didn’t play well, and it just seems so easy to create chances against them.
Sunderland have been a revelation. I didn’t expect them to be so solid and organised, it’s been the dream start for them. They’ll fancy this and travel full of optimism and with nothing to lose.
This feels crucial for Amorim and for United. With an international break looming, this could be a decisive game. I’m going for a nervy draw.
One to watch: Rightly or wrongly, all eyes always seem to be on Bruno. He almost always delivers for his side when they desperately need him, except from the penalty spot!
Arsenal 3-0 West Ham
What a massive win that was for Arsenal against Newcastle. It’s so early in the season but who knows, that could end up being a vital three points for them by the end of it. With Liverpool stalling a little bit, this could be Arsenal’s moment to seize the title momentum.
I actually thought West Ham showed signs of improvement at Everton the other night. They looked a touch more organised and could even have won the game. This is a huge step up in class though.
A comfortable home win.
One to watch: These are the sort of games that Gyokeres will probably score a goal or two in.
Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool
Another massive one. Chelsea are just such a strange side at the minute. Even the games they’ve been winning have hardly been convincing, Benfica had chances the other night. If Cole Palmer is out, I really worry where the goals come from in this side which is crazy considering how much money they’ve spent on it!
As for Liverpool, the performances have caught up with them in the last week. I just think Arne Slot will want to get to the break, regroup and figure some things out because they haven’t really looked right all season.
Despite losing their last two away games, I’m still going for the champions.
One to watch: It could be two, Isak and Wirtz. Isak doesn’t look fully fit to me but Wirtz, there’s a lot of pressure on this lad after that huge fee and he’s not delivering. He needs a goal.
Everton 1-2 Crystal Palace
Everton huffed and puffed on Monday, but they didn’t have enough spark against West Ham. They started the season so well, but the last couple of games haven’t been great and they looked a little goal-shy to me.
Palace are just showing no sign of slowing down, they might win the league at this rate! The belief and confidence that this side must have right now. I do worry how they’ll cope with all these extra European games though.
I can’t not pick Palace in this form can I?
One to watch: I can see Mateta getting on the scoresheet here.
Newcastle 2-1 Forest
Newcastle keep being on the receiving end of some heartbreaking losses. That will be tough for the squad to take, but Eddie will take the positives from some of these performances and I’m sure the points will come.
As for Forest, it’s not been the greatest start for Ange. It just feels like they’re playing every other night, it’s not the most ideal way to start at a new club. The longer the winless run goes in the league, the more the pressure will build on him.
I’m picking the home side, 2-1 to Newcastle.
One to watch: It has to be Elanga! Newcastle paid a lot for him from Forest but he’s shown glimpses of his blistering pace and threat, something they’ll know all about!
Wolves 1-1 Brighton
This feels like a big one for Wolves. They came so close to a vital win last week and it just feels like they need a win to take the pressure off them. Some of the performances haven’t been terrible, but they do lack a threat.
Brighton have won two games this season, and they’ve been against City and Chelsea! That sums this team up, capable of some brilliant performances but very inconsistent.
I can see a draw; I think Wolves can frustrate them here.
One to watch: it was great to see Welbeck back amongst the goals last week after a difficult start to the season.
Villa 2-0 Burnley
Boy did Villa need that one last week. That should really lift them up and it might be the catalyst that sees this side go on a good run of form.
I can’t read too much into Burnley’s result against City. Some of the defending was shambolic but ultimately, games away to Man City won’t determine their fate this season.
It has to be Villa here.
One to watch: Ollie Watkins finally got his goal last week and he’ll want to back that up here. He’s got a good chance of doing just that.
Brentford 1-2 Man City
An interesting game to finish with. It was the summer of change for Brentford, but they remain very hard to beat at home, and they showed that against United last week. Mbeumo and Wissa might have gone but they still have a lot of threat in that front three.
This feels like a test of where this City side are. They’ve been a bit up and down to start this season, but a win here would make this a decent enough start and set them up to go on a strong run of form.
I don’t see much in this, but I’m going with City.
One to watch: Has there been a better player in the Premier League than Haaland this season? I’m not sure there has.
