World Cup 2018 Qualifiers - Betting
The 2018 World Cup is destined for Russia, that bastion of fair play, honour and all-round good times. Okay, so on the face of it the location doesn’t exactly seem conducive to a fun-filled fiesta of ball-based joi-de-vivre, but let’s focus on the positives – at least it isn’t Qatar.
Anyway, before the main event, it’s the qualifiers. Fresh from the Euros, where then-boss Roy Hodgson was tactically outwitted by a team who’s co-manager moonlights as a dentist outside of football tournaments, now England embark on the road to Russia with new manager Gareth Southgate at the helm. And win or lose, Big Sam is sure to deliver the kind of freewheeling, thrill-a-minute action that England's international team have been crying out for!
In the European qualification groups, teams need to come top of their group to ensure qualification; if a team finishes second AND is one of the eight best teams (from nine groups) to finish in the runner-up position, they’ll go through to a play-off, where the winner of each tie will qualify for the World Cup.
England have been drawn in Group F, where they will face Slovakia, Scotland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta.
Wales are in Group D, along with Austria, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Moldova and Georgia. Northern Ireland are in Group C, where they will face Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino.
The first qualifiers will be played on the 26th of March. Looking for an early bet? See the markets below now.
