They might have started in less than stellar fashion, but in the end Juventus were comfortable winners of the Italian top flight last season. The Bianconeri finished nine points clear of second placed Napoli, Juve landing their fifth scudetto in as many years.

So can anyone stop the Old Lady landing a sixth Championship in the 2016-17 season? The last sides to win Serie A before Juventus’ current run were AC Milan in 2011, and Internazionale in the five preceding years. But neither of those Milan sides have been in the running for the championship more recently.

Inter finished fourth last season, some 24 points shy of Juventus, while Milan were a further 10 points adrift, finishing seventh in the league under Cristian Brocchi - who had replaced Sinisa Mihaljovic just a month before the end of the season.

Brocchi won just two of his seven games in charge, and has already been replaced by former Sampdoria boss Vincenzo Montella. So can Montella restore some purpose to the Milanese side? The odds compilers aren’t convinced; pre-season, Juventus are odds-on to win Serie A once again, while Inter and AC Milan are fourth and fifth in the pecking order.

At the time of writing, it’s Roma that are thought to be the likeliest challengers to Juve’s supremacy, with Napoli rated as third favourites for the championship. But do either of those sides boast stronger squads this season?

Napoli may be forced to sell Gonzalo Higuain, while Roma are trying to hang on to centre-back Kostas Manolas, having already lost Miralam Pjanic to Juventus. Juve have also picked up Dani Alves from Barcelona on a free transfer, and further recruits seem likely.

So who are you backing for your Serie A betting in 2016/17?
