It’s a week into the January transfer window opening, and this time it’s the young Sunderland player who’s grabbing the headlines. At just 19 years of age and with 4 goals in 22 appearances this season, it’s no surprise that Jobe Bellingham transfer odds are appearing at most bookies, with several clubs interested in poaching the England U21 international before the window closes at the start of February. According to reports, although unconfirmed, Sunderland agreed a gentleman’s agreement with Bellingham, that should a Premier League club come with a tempting offer, they would allow him to enter talks with them, and despite Sunderland sitting 4th in the Championship and in touching distance of promotion territory, it seems that, amongst other interested parties, are a few Premier League teams that may be too hard to turn down. So let’s review the latest Jobe Bellingham transfer market according to BetVictor.
At the time of writing, while several European markets have been placed at 12/1 odds, where a £10 bet would return £120, namely ‘Any Italian Club’, ‘Any French Club’ and ‘Any German Club’, there are two teams heading the race for his signature. In second place, looking to recoup a midfielder after their starlet Bukayo Saka has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, is Arsenal at 8/1, with the same £10 wager paying out £90. While Arsenal fans have long tried to woo his brother, Los Blancos star Jude Bellingham into heading to the Emirates, his brother represents a good fit for the club as a home-grown talent with plenty to offer, not to mention that he’s a lot cheaper than his sibling. In first place is fellow-London side, Crystal Palace, at just 2/1 odds with £10 bet paying £30 if correct. Despite sitting 15th in the EPL, Chelsea’s renewed interest in former academy player Marc Guehi could land Palace a substantial payday should they get near their £70m valuation, leaving them to shore up their midfield/attacking line-up and hopefully helping them move up a few places away from the dreaded drop zone. With a reported £20m valuation and a chance to secure an England U-21 international ahead of the 3rd Feb close date, it’s no wonder that Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, is rumoured to be preparing to ready a bid.
While no official bids have been placed at this point in time, it seems a matter of days until a Premier League or International club jumps on the chance to land Bellingham’s signature, especially if he could become even half as successful as his brother has become. While Sunderland will have no pressure to sell him, considering he only just renewed his contract in the Summer until 2028, this could be a welcome income of cash, and perhaps a chance to invest back into the club to drive the Black Cats back to the Premier League.
