ABOUT RAZZ POKER
About Razz Poker
Razz Poker has four rounds of betting. It is a game that requires patience and skill in knowing when to call or fold . Players are able to make informed decisions based on the number of visible cards on the table. The number of visible cards makes it easier for Players to judge the strength of their hands.
The object of Razz Poker is to make the lowest possible five-card hand from the seven cards you are dealt and win the pot. In Razz Poker, straights and flushes are not considered. The best possible Razz Poker hand is 5-4-3-2-A.
Two to eight Players can play Razz Poker at one time.
Razz Poker Basic Hints
To improve your chances of winning, remember the following points:
- The object of Razz Poker is to make the lowest five-card hand possible from the seven cards you are dealt, and to win the pot.
- Watch your opponents' visible cards. If a Player's face-up cards at any point beat your entire hand, it is better to fold.
- Fifth Street is a make-or-break point. As the bet amount doubles each round, ensure your hand can produce a win at the end of the game. This minimizes your loss.
Playing Razz Poker
Note: To play Razz Poker you must have enough chips on the table to place an ante and a bet.
Razz Poker plays as follows:
- Place an ante on the table. Note, there is no ante at €0.50/€1.00 tables.
- Each Player is dealt three cards, two hole cards and one card face-up.
- The Player with the lowest card showing by suit, must bring-in the betting. Note, suits are ranked from low to high - Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades.
- A round of betting follows. Players can either Raise, Call or Fold/li>
- After all the Players have contributed the same amount into the pot, the fourth card, the Fourth Street, is dealt face-up and there is another round of betting. Note, in fixed limit games, Fourth Street betting is still at the lower limit unless a Player has a Pair showing. If a Pair is showing, the first Player to bet may choose to open the betting at the higher limit.
- At Fifth Street, in fixed limit games, the bets are at the higher amount whether or not a Pair is showing. At Sixth Street, the final face-up card is dealt.
- The last phase of Razz Poker is Seventh Street. The seventh card, the River Card, is dealt face down to all Players, followed by the final round of betting and the Showdown. Note, when a Player wins a hand the cards that make up the winning hand are highlighted and the remaining cards are greyed out.
