Hi - Lo Game Show Information & Game Rules

Every time you make a correct prediction about the next card to be drawn, you get another card until you either get five cards or make a wrong prediction. Guess correctly until you have 5 cards and you win.

You can also make an optional bonus bet that if you get all 5 cards, your hand will be evaluated like a poker hand, with additional winnings if you have a pair or better. If you get the highest possible poker hand, a Royal Flush, you win the progressive jackpot !!!

The progressive jackpot is funded by players' bonus bets.

Rules

  • The game is played with 52 cards. The deck is not reshuffled between cards/predictions, only after the game is over. That means that if you draw, for example, the 5 of Diamonds, the 5 of Diamonds can't be drawn again until the next game.

  • Ties on Hi Lo bets do not affect the Current Bet amount. The game just continues. A tie occurs when you make a Hi Lo bet and then the next card dealt is the same rank as the previous card. If you also made a Colour or Suit bet that loses, the game ends, and if it wins, the amount is added to your Current Bet amount.

  • Aces are low.

  • You cannot cash out mid-game, but must complete the game.

How to Play

  1. Select a Wager amount by using the up and down arrows to adjust the default amount displayed. Make your initial bet, plus you can make an optional Bonus bet.

    Higher credit denominations: 1K=1000, 1M=1 000 000, 1B=1 000 000 000.

  2. Click Play.

  3. The first card is turned over.

  4. Make a prediction about the next card to be drawn:

  • Higher or Lower: You are betting that the next card will be higher or lower than the last card. If a King (the highest possible card) is the last card dealt, you can only place a Lower bet. If an Ace (the lowest possible card) is the last card dealt, you can only place a Higher bet. Consider these as 'freebies' since you are guaranteed to move to the next card, unless you made a Colour or Suit bet that loses.

     
  • Colour: You are betting that the next card will be Red or Black.
     
  • Suit: You are betting the next card will be of a particular suit - Diamonds, Hearts, Clubs or Spades.

  • You can also combine a Higher or Lower bet with either a Colour bet or a Suit bet, but you can't make a Colour bet and a Suit bet together. You can't bet on both Higher and Lower, or both Red and Black, or make two Suit bets.

  • You can remove any bets you have clicked on by clicking on the Clear button, or make another bet that cancels out the first, e.g., if you have clicked on the Lower button, clicking on Higher will change it to a Higher bet.

  1. After you have made your bet(s), click on Confirm.

  2. A second card is dealt.

  3. If your prediction was wrong, the game ends and you lose the amount of your original bet.

    If your prediction was correct, you aren't paid out immediately, but instead the Payout amount becomes the amount of your Current Bet. Every time you make a correct prediction, your Current Bet gets bigger. If you get all 5 cards, you win the Current Bet amount. However, if you lose a bet, the most you can lose is the amount of your original bet. In this way, you can potentially win a lot of money from a small initial bet.

  4. Now click on your predictions for the next card. Click on Confirm, and then a 3rd card will be dealt. If you are correct, you can make your predictions for the 4th card, and if those are correct, you can make your predictions for the 5th.

  5. If your predictions are all correct for all 5 cards, you win the amount shown in the Payout field.

    If you made a Bonus Game bet, the five cards are evaluated according to poker hand rules, and if you have a pair or better, you are paid according to the Bonus Pays display on the left side of the screen. The display only lights up if you have placed a bonus bet. If you have a Royal Flush, you win the progressive jackpot too.

  6. Click Play Again to clear the screen and start a new game.

Odds and Payouts

For each bet, the Payout amount is calculated according to the actual odds of the next card being as you predicted. The Odds and the Payout for each bet are displayed when you click the bet, but the bet is not placed until you click on Confirm, so you can see the Odds and Payout for a particular bet before you place it. For example, let's say you have a 4 as your last card, and the amount in the Current Bet box is 2.00. Click on the Higher button, and the Odds displayed will be 1.30, for a possible payout of 2.60 (2.00 x 1.30 = 2.60).

Click on the Lower button, and the Odds displayed will be 3.90, for a Payout of 7.80. This is because it's more likely that the next card will be higher than 4, so the payout for a Higher bet is lower than if you made a riskier Lower bet. If you also place a Suit bet, saying that you think the next card will be lower than 4, AND of one particular suit, and the Odds will be 13.65 for a Payout of 27.30.

If you win this bet, your Current Bet will become 29.30 (27.30 + the last Current Bet of 2.00.)

Note that the Odds for Colour and Suit bets are usually the same from one card to the next, since they are not dependent on the previous card, but will increase when combined with a Higher or Lower bet.

Bonus Game

If you made a Bonus bet at the beginning of the game, and you get all 5 cards, not only do you win the amount of the Current Bet, but the 5 cards will be evaluated like a poker hand. If you have a Royal Flush, you win the progressive jackpot, which is funded in part by the house and partly by players' bonus bets.

 

Game Options:

Go to Main Menu - Options to bring up the following list:

Graphic Quality: You can change this to Low if you are experiencing slowdowns in play because of your computer's processing abilities. Note: Slowdowns in play can also be the result of Internet-related issues such as peak usage periods.

Sound FX: This turns the game sounds (such as the beeps when you click on the buttons) on and off.

Load Ambient Sound: This will turn on the sounds of a normal casino, such as people talking in the background. These sounds are very quiet compared to the other sounds. (These sounds may or may not be heard in your version of the game.)

 

The long term, average expected RTP is 96.70%. System malfunction voids all pays and play.
